Thank you, volunteers!

A special thanks to those who helped us plant hundreds of willow steaks along the new banks of Sevenmile Creek. We will be keeping an eye on these plants throughout the years and hopefully watch them grow into mature shrubs that will provide great shade, habitat, and bank stabilization.

Stay tuned for more volunteer opportunities. You can also add your name to our email list by visiting this page.

Willow Planting (continued)

Planting with the Hydraulic Stinger

It was a beautiful day to plant willows! Volunteers with the Lake Helena Watershed Group, the Water Quality Protection District and the Lewis and Clark Conservation District planted over 700 willow sprigs into the banks around the creek feeding into Prickly Pear, as well the banks of Prickly Pear Creek near the fishing access site.

We can’t wait to see how these willows do and the benefits they provide for years to come!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to all of the amazing volunteers. This project would not have been possible without you!

Willow Planting

After cutting and soaking over 500 willow shoots, we will be planting on Monday morning, March 27th.

These willows will help stabilize the banks, reducing erosion and the amount of sediment that gets loaded into the stream.

Join us Monday Morning at 8:30 AM and help plant willows! All are welcome. We will meet in the parking lot of the Upper Prickly Pear Fishing Access.

Please bring with you:

  • water and sack lunch
  • gloves and tall rubber boots or waders
